Black East Wild West
Black East – Scenes of Decay
The scenes of decay can be found in desolate East German towns and villages some 15 years after the fall of the Wall.
People flow or pause with an absent-minded look in the sceneries of empty dilapidated houses, in front of wooden walls and closed fast-food stands. An atmosphere of warmth and cosiness is created at night, when artificial golden light makes an entrance, a window or a path look unexpectedly attractive, while the day is swallowed by darkness.
The photographs were taken during journeys through East German cityscapes during the years 2006 to 2008 and are the third part of the cycle Black East Wild West.
